Scholarship coverage
University of Waterloo scholarships provide the recipient with the following benefits:
- The David Johnston-Leibowitz Foundation International Experience Awards will be awarded in the amount of up to $2,500 for a one-semester study experience, $2,500 to $5,000 for a one-semester work or volunteer experience, or up to $10,000 for a two-semester work or volunteer experience.
- The International Master's Excellence Award is worth US$2,500 per semester, up to a maximum of 6 semesters.
Eligibility Criteria for University of Waterloo Scholarships
To be eligible for University of Waterloo scholarships, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Required languages: English
- Eligible countries: All countries of the world
- Candidates with good academic standing (usually an average grade of at least 70% at the undergraduate level; and usually an average grade of 75% at the graduate level) are eligible to apply for these scholarships.
- Applicants must be full-time undergraduate and graduate students at any college who wish to participate in an international experience in Israel, including a paid or voluntary international cooperative internship, a volunteer internship, an academic exchange, or a semester related to academic requirements.
- International students with a valid Canadian study permit, enrolled full-time and responsible for international tuition fees.
- It is usually offered to students in research-based programs (thesis or major research paper).
- It will normally be awarded to students entering the first semester of their program (1.0 semester).
- Students must demonstrate academic excellence according to criteria set by the college.
- Students must meet the academic progression requirements of their program and have no outstanding test admission requirements.
- This award may be combined with other internal or external scholarships (such as the University of Washington Graduate Scholarship, OGS Scholarship, etc.). Note: Scholarships are different from sponsorships - see next point.
- Normally, students should not simultaneously receive sponsorship from a foreign government or agency (e.g., China Scholarship Council, Libyan Sponsorship, etc.) or be fully or partially self-funded beyond the minimum levels of support set by the college.
- Students who have been educated under a current IMSA program cannot be nominated for an IMAE award; however, a student who has previously received an IMSA award for a previously completed master's degree may be nominated for an IMAE award.
- Students will be automatically considered for this award based on their application for admission. Departments and/or colleges will establish their own internal procedures for selecting recipients based on eligibility and allocation criteria.
- Colleges may impose more stringent eligibility criteria as appropriate.
