What you need to volunteer in Germany:
- - You must be at least 18 years old (unless special permissions are obtained from the center director and the volunteer’s parents).
- Get a working, colloquial understanding of English language and grammar (even if it's not perfect!)
- - To have a positive and friendly attitude, in addition to the desire to learn about Arab and German culture.
- Excited to meet new people.
- Willing to be part of a host family here in Halle (Saale), Germany.
- Willing to bring all of themselves and join a diverse community.
- Be kind! There's no room for bias at the Center of Excellence.
What are the general responsibilities of volunteers?
General responsibilities of volunteers include:
- Teaching 2-4 English conversation classes per week.
- Write a review about their experience in Germany.
- Develop and refine effective teaching methods through practical experience.
- Create, run, and organize English language workshops that can be recreational or aimed at teaching students marketable skills, such as resume writing.
- Volunteers are expected to prepare and deliver two presentations: one focusing on the teaching guide provided by the center, and one on their home life, country, and culture.
- Participate in a weekly meeting with the Center of Excellence Director to measure progress, discuss new ideas, potential issues, professional development, and more.
When can I apply and how long can I volunteer?
The English and German Language Teaching Volunteer Program is available year-round (spring, summer, winter, and fall) with no application deadlines. The program is ideal for short-term internships or longer stays. Volunteers can precisely choose their start and end dates, and the program ranges from one to 13 weeks. The adventure is in your hands! EC will be ready to welcome you upon arrival.
What does the application process look like?
- The job seeker volunteer will send an email to the centre requesting the application to info@eceurope.com.
- The Center of Excellence will send you an application.
- We are reviewing the application with our team.
- We will request an interview; either via Skype, Zoom, or WhatsApp.
- If your application is accepted, we will send you a confirmation letter and contract.
- You pay the program fee.
- Get ready to come to Germany and participate in the program!
