The Policy Leaders Scholarship (PLF) is a fully funded leadership program lasting between five and ten months at the European University Institute . This leadership program invites applicants from a wide range of policy fields, such as politics, the civil service, media, NGOs, and more, to attract individuals from around the world with diverse practical experience in policymaking. The program selects approximately 20-25 individuals annually from across the globe. Dates and duration of the fellowship
Five or ten months. Candidates must indicate their preference from the following options:
- Five months : September 2025 – January 2026
- Ten months : September 2025 – June 2026
Financial advantages
- Monthly salary: Colleagues receive a monthly salary of 2500 euros to cover living expenses.
- Family allowance: A monthly allowance of 300 euros is provided to help cover additional family costs.
- Child allowance: An additional sum of 200 euros per month is provided for each dependent child.
- Travel allowance: Colleagues are entitled to a total amount of 1200 euros to cover travel expenses, including a first-class train ticket and economy class airline tickets.
Eligibility criteria
- Nationality : The European Union University's leadership program in Italy is open to all citizens. EU citizenship is not required.
- Degree level : A bachelor's degree or equivalent is required. A doctorate is not required.
- Age : There is no recommendation or maximum age limit.
- Mid-career professionals: Candidates should be mid-career professionals with at least 10 years of relevant work experience.
- Policy-related topics: Priority will be given to applicants whose work addresses pressing policy challenges relevant to the areas of focus of the Strategic Working Group.
