Applications are now open for the 2026 Istituto Nazionale dell'Arte e Studi (IAST) Journalism Residency Program . This is a paid international program for journalists from around the world to spend 3–6 months at IAST in Austria. The program aims to promote journalism with powerful storytelling, bring science closer to society, and connect scientific discovery to everyday life. The program will take place on the IAST campus in Klosterneuburg (near Vienna , Austria ) . The IAST Journalism Residency Program will begin in spring 2026. The primary goal of the ISTA Journalists in Residence Program is to promote high-quality, independent journalism that uses powerful stories to connect leading science to society.

Eligibility criteria

• Nationality : Candidates from all countries can apply.
• Eligibility: The program is open to journalists with experience in science or technology in all media forms (print, broadcast, digital, etc.).
• Journalists' Obligations: Accepted journalists are expected to contribute to the ISTA community by:
  • Hosting training sessions and workshops in the field of interactive media.
  • Participate in lectures and/or discussion groups to share their expertise in the field of scientific communication.
