This type of visa is granted to third-country nationals who intend to travel to Romania for either undergraduate or postgraduate studies, training or internships.

A Romanian study visa allows you to work up to four hours per day (part-time) without the need to obtain a separate work permit.

  • You must have an admission to study issued by a Romanian university.
  • After the university issues its approval for enrolment, you must obtain permission to study from the Romanian Ministry of Education.
  • Proof of payment of tuition fees for at least one year (if you are not on a scholarship)

The application fee for a long-term residence visa in Romania (referred to as D) is  120 euros.

Processing time

The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends submitting applications for long-stay visas at least 45 days before the planned day of travel.
