a description

The Kreisjugendwerk of AWO Karlsruhe is a non-profit organization for children and youth that offers informal education and workshops for children aged 6 to 23. It also organizes local community events to promote integration and solidarity. Your tasks include: providing administrative support in the Educational Service Center (ESC) and in the office's international programs, promoting and organizing events, participating in local creative initiatives, and arranging and sorting materials for projects. Confident use of a computer and social media accounts is important, and a driver's license is welcome. During the summer holidays, you can join camps as a leader and lead groups of children. You will also occasionally work weekends, but will have two free days after that. For more information and to apply: https://www.jugendwerk-awo.de/freiwilligendienste/esc-calls and for details here: https://www.jugendwerk-awo.de/freiwilligendienste/esc-calls/office-of-kreisjugendwerk-awo-karlsruhe

Accommodation, food and transportation arrangements

You will live in a house with six other European volunteers, all working on various ESC projects. The house is located right next to Kalsruhe and can be reached in 15 minutes by tram or train. You will receive a free travel card for travel throughout Germany. The house is very spacious and has a kitchen, two living rooms, a bathroom, a separate toilet, a balcony, and a courtyard. The two bedrooms are quite small, so we have adopted a "shift" system. It is also possible to share rooms, two of which have two beds. Training during activity

A mentor and office staff will support you throughout the year. You will participate in arrival and mid-term training, held in another city in Germany, in groups with other ESC volunteers. You will also participate in Jugendwerk training on topics such as youth work and educational aspects. At the end of this training, you will receive a certificate that you can use as a camp leader to work with children. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to attend free courses in first aid, German, climbing, and lifesaving.

Participant's profile
