What is the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship?

It is the prestigious Hungarian government scholarship program to pursue part-time Bachelor's, Master's, PhD and single degree programs at Hungarian universities.

This program was established by the Hungarian government in 2013, is overseen by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and is managed by the Tempus Public Foundation.

Study levels

  • Full-time degree programs
    • Bachelor's programs : 2-4 years (Bachelor's, Bachelor of Science)
    • Master's programs : 1.5-2 years (Master's, or Master of Science degree)
    • Master's programs at one level : 5-6 years (Master's degree or Master of Science degree)
  • Non-degree programs
    • Preparatory course in Hungarian language: one year (certificate)
    • Specialized training courses for postgraduate studies: 1-2 years (certificate)

In the Hungarian education system, the A-level Master's degree program covers both Bachelor's and Master's levels of study.

The single-level Master's program is offered in specific fields: General Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Architecture, Law, Veterinary Surgery, and Forestry Engineering.

Specialized postgraduate training courses provide the opportunity to obtain a specialist qualification after obtaining a bachelor's or master's degree.

How to apply for the Stependium 2026 scholarship?

  • There are no application fees.
  • For each country, there is a separate process, and study programs are mentioned. Please read the application guidelines and call for application from here.
  • Check the Partners Tab and select your country for the details on the application.
  • Do not forget to submit your Stipendium Hungaricum application on this online platform, starting with registration: https://apply.stipendiumhungaricum.hu
  • Applicants cannot directly apply to the Hungarian Universities for a scholarship. You need to apply through the Designated Sending Partner Institute in your country.
  • You do not need an admission offer from the Univeristy.
  • Only the nominated applicants can proceed with their applications.
  • Each applicant can apply for up to TWO different study programs, in order of preference.
